VEGANISM - IT JUST GETS BETTER AND BETTER!

when a book claims that “the science is clear. the results are unmistakable”, and that by changing my diet i can “dramatically reduce the risk of cancer, diabetes, heart disease and obesity” … how could i not invest a little time in finding out exactly how this can be done! the china study: the most comprehensive study of nutrition ever conducted and the startling implications for diet, weight loss and long-term health was well worth the investment and i not only feel more supported in my decision to be vegan, but inspired to share this information with others in my field of study, circle of friends and family and anyone who cares to ask what the benefits of my lifestyle are!

after hearing the name of this text pop up here and there, and subsequently reading some great reviews, i decided to hop online and excitedly place an order for this and a few other vegan reads

although the spanish mail system required considerable patience, the china study: the most comprehensive study of nutrition ever conducted and the startling implications for diet, weight loss and long-term health finally landed on my desk ready to educate me and reinforce my views on how great a vegan diet really is!

t. colin campbell, and his son thomas, provide bucket-loads of relevant, clear, and well-supported scientific evidence to demonstrate a direct association between increased chronic disease risk and the consumption of animal-based 'foods'. the campbells, particularly t. colin campbell, have extensive personal experience in the field of nutrtional research and policy-making; and provide a concise yet significantly academic overview for their non-scientist audience.

the china study explores the numerous links between a variety of chronic diseases prevalent in western societies today - including, but not limited to cancer, type II and II diabetes, cardiovascular disease (CVD), and even multiple sclerosis (MS) - and the consumption of animal protein. the volume and weight of the evidence is significant and not only supports my personal view of the health benefits associated with a vegan diet, but also rings true on many levels when considered against what i have learn from my studies of human physiology and nutrition.

the campbells recommend a simple solution, easily achievable by all, to avoid these highly prevalent chronic dieases - which, based on the evidence presented, could be labelled 'lifestyle disease'. the solution? adopt a whole grain, plant-based (vegan) diet! for those of us already singing the virtues of veganism, this is an excellent talking point for when next confronted by the typical meat-eating antagonist! the china study is also an interesting read for anyone intrigued by the 'corruption' of the food production and nutritional policy-making system that exists in the US (and very likely in all countries - including my home country of australia, where the manipulation of government policy by the hand of industry's is often considerably evident).

after reading the china study, i would definitely recommoned it to anyone wishing to learn more about the direct association between diet and chronic disease, the benefits of a whole grain plant-based diet, and/or anyone who holds an interest in improving their health and disease-free longevity!
